  • Data are made available to all users simultaneously in the press release Die Arbeitsmarktlage Ende xx xx (e.g. October 2002) issued at the press conference given by the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection. Subsequently the same data are made available on the AMS's Internet site http://www.ams.or.at.

0.1.1 Responsibility for collecting, processing, and disseminating statistics

 

 

 

  • The compilation of statistics by the AMS is based on paragraph 4 and 30 of the Arbeitsmarktservicegesetz of 1994. Paragraph 4 (2) Pkt. 5d, states that "The Public Employment Service has to provide ... prerequisites for conducting its services by... monitoring the labour market, compiling statistics and doing research and development in the field of labour market, employment and professions. Paragraph 30 (2), states that "The AMS is in charge of monitoring the labour market, compiling statistics and doing research and development in the field of labour market, employment and professions."

 

 

 

 

  • The dissemination of unemployment data by the AMS is done as a public service.

0.1.3 Confidentiality of individual reporters' data

 

 

 

  • Confidentiality of individual data is assured by the Datenschutzgesetz 1978.

  • Arbeitsmarktservicegesetz and Datenschutzgesetz 1978 are available in German only. Copies of these documents can be obtained from the contact person.

  • The AMS and the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection, which is the supervising authority of the AMS, have access to the database on unemployment.

  • The press release of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection provides a set of tables and the Ministers interpretation of the data, which is clearly separated from the statistics themselves.

  • The data that are presented at the press conference of the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Consumer Protection are final.

  • Detailed data on unemployment by sex, region, age, occupation, and economic classification can be found on the AMS's Internet site (http://www.ams.at) - in German. For certain aggregates, timeseries of 13 months are disseminated.
