The Data: Coverage, Periodicity, and Timeliness
Coverage characteristics

5.1.1 Statistical presentation

Data for total imports and total exports are published in Danish Kroner, on both an unadjusted and a seasonally adjusted basis, and also as indices (value index, index of unit values and index of quantity). The valuation principle is c.i.f. (cost, insurance and freight) for imports and f.o.b. (free on board) for exports.

Merchandise trade with EU-countries is an establishment arrangement called INTRASTAT. Only VAT-liable establishments with EU-imports of more than DKK 1,500,000 and/or EU-exports of more than DKK 2,500,000 are obliged to provide data.

Merchandise trade with non-EU-countries is registered within a customs framework, in which all importers and exporters are obliged to provide data.

INTRA trade is Denmark's total merchandise trade within the EU-countries. EXTRA trade is the total merchandise trade with countries who are not members of the EU. The INTRA- and EXTRA trade are published as a unit.

Periodicity

4.1.1 Periodicity

Monthly.

Timeliness

4.1.2 Timeliness

Statistics Denmark disseminates a quarter-ahead advance release calendar that gives approximate release dates on the DSBB and it is available in Danish on Statistics Denmark's home page (www.dst.dk). The precise release dates are disseminated at the end of the week prior to the release of the data in "Nyt fra Danmarks Statistik", in Danish and English. A regular notice to this effect is published in the "Nyt fra Danmarks Statistik" ("News from Statistics Denmark").

Simultaneous release to all
interested parties

5.1.4 Simultaneous release

Data are released to all interested parties at 9:30 a.m. CET, by issuing the news release "Nyt fra Danmarks Statistik" at www.dst.dk and at www.statbank.dk. Embargo procedures are stated in the working plan for statistics Denmark. All interested parties can obtain a copy or fax of the News Release on request.
