The Data: Coverage, Periodicity, and Timeliness
Coverage characteristics

5.1.1 Statistical presentation

The Producers’ Price Index on domestic market is a Laspeyre’s index (2005=100).

The PPI is calculated by using the National Classification of Activities (based on the NACE Rev. 2) for the following sections of industrial activities: B (Mining and quarrying), C (Manufacturing), D (Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply) and E (Water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities) and by main industrial groupings according to the end-use of products, as follows: Energy (AE), Intermediate goods, except energy (AI), Capital goods (B), Durable consumer goods (B), Non-durable consumer goods (CN).

December of the previous year has been taken as the base month for price changes.

Weights are based on sales value at the group level taken from the 2007 Annual Industry Report (IND-21 form). The major revision of the weighting system is done every five years, while, in relation to changes in prices, weights are partly corrected annually (price updating).

The data are not seasonally adjusted.
