| The Data: Coverage, Periodicity, and Timeliness | ||||||||||||
| Coverage characteristics | 5.1.1 Statistical presentation Data are disseminated on total number of population for the beginning of the year, where the population includes all constant residents and temporarily absent of the country on age, urban and rural population and on sex. The system of acts reporting of a civil condition registers the facts of birth and death, and also marriages and divorces. Internal (inter-regional) and external migration are registered by means of the separate system of the administrative registration. It is produced the combinational grouping of data on regions, sex, age, nationality and other characteristics. Current estimates of population are based on constant demographic monitoring by means of continuous coverage by the system of acts reporting of a civil service. Population levels are counted on the results of the last population census by adding annual number of the born and arrived at the given territory and the deduction of the number of the died and left. Population census takes place every 10 years. The last census was held during the period from February 25 till March 4, 1999. Statistics of natural movement of the population and data om migration are coming monthly. The Bulletin with updated population estimates are released quarterly. | |||||||||||

| Advance dissemination of release calendar | 5.1.3 Advance release calendar An advance release calendar that meets SDDS requirements by providing precise release dates at least one quarter in advance is posted on the website of the Republic of Kazakhstan Statistics Agency (RKSA) (http://www.stat.kz). | Simultaneous release to all interested parties | 5.1.4 Simultaneous release Data are granted simultaneously to all interested parties by the way of a press-release. | Dissemination of documentation on methodology and sources used in preparing statistics | 5.2.1 Dissemination of documentation on concepts, scope, classifications, basis of recording, data sources, and statistical techniques A brief methodological description is published together with the data in the monthly publication. A more detailed description of data sources and methods is published in Методологических положениях по статистике (Methodological Principles in Statistics), Almaty 2001. The Демографический ежегодник Казахстана (Demographic Yearbook of Kazakhstan) (published once a year) contains definitions of demographic concepts and categories pertaining to population. Definitions also appear in the Statistical Yearbook of Kazakhstan. (See also summary methodology) | |||||||||||
| Dissemination of component detail, reconciliations with related data, and statistical frameworks that support statistical cross-checks and provide assurance of reasonableness | 4.2.1 Internal consistency The compendium contains statistical data on administrative-territorial divisions, changes in the total population and the composition of the population in terms of age and sex, its distribution throughout the territory of Kazakhstan, birth and death rates, life expectancy at birth, marriage and divorce rates, migration, and other indicators describing processes involved in the reproduction of the population. Population data with details on natural growth and migration are published in the quarterly Статистический бюллетень (Statistical Bulletin). Quarterly data are provided for the latest year and annual date are provided for the previous year. 4.2.2 Temporal consistency Data on population estimates by age groups, broken down by urban and rural population, along with data on annual births, deaths, and migration flows for the last four years, are published in the annual Статистический ежегодник Казахстана (Statistical Yearbook of Kazakhstan).
