| Coverage characteristics | 5.1.1 Statistical presentation Data are disseminated on the number of population which are consistent with the 1990 census enumeration and updated monthly using birth, death, emigration, and immigration statistics.The data are measured at the first of the month for the monthly data and as at July 1 for the annual data. | Dissemination of terms and conditions under which official statistics are produced, including those relating to the confidentiality of individually identifiable information | 0.1.1 Responsibility for collecting, processing, and disseminating statistics The U.S. Census is mandated by Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution of the United States. The collection of the data is authorized under Title 13, United States Code, which also requires the publication of the data. No individual-level input data are released.The U.S. Constitution can be accessed on the following Internet website (http://www.house.gov/Constitution/Constitution.html). Copies of the United States Code are available, free of charge, at the following Internet addresses (http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/index.html), or for a fee from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office, P.O. Box 371954, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7954. 0.1.3 Confidentiality of individual reporters' data Bureau of Census Confidentiality provisions governing the compilation of the data are set forth in Title 13, United States Code, Chapter 9, Section 301.0.4.1 Quality policy Bureau of Census The Office of Management and Budget's Statistical Policy Directive Number 3 requirs prompt release of Principal Economic Indicators. | Dissemination of component detail, reconciliations with related data, and statistical frameworks that support statistical cross-checks and provide assurance of reasonableness | 4.2.2 Temporal consistency Summary data on national level population are published on the Internet website for the following: total monthly population estimates, 1980 to current; annual population estimates by age group and sex, selected years from 1990 to current; and annual population estimates by sex, race and Hispanic origin, selected years from 1990 to current.Detailed data files are also published on the Internet for monthly population estimates, 1990 to current, and historical national population estimates, 1900 to current. In addition, quarterly population estimates, 1980 to current, are available for each of the 4 population universes described in the coverage characteristics cell. The files also show a breakdown of national population estimates by single year of age, by sex, by race (white, black, Hispanic, American Indian, Eskimo and Aleut, Asian and Pacific Islander), and by Hispanic origin (Hispanics can be of any race). Annual mid-year state and county data by age, sex, race, and origin are released within two years of the reference date. Annual mid-year total population data for 46,000 political units are released within two years of the reference date. The annual data are also available in hardcopy format. | |||||||||||
