At the International Monetary Fund Executive Board discussion of the Seventh Review of the Fund’s Data Standards Initiatives in December 2008, the Board decided to align further the GDDS with the SDDS. This decision was consistent with their decision during the Sixth Review of the Data Standards Initiatives, integrate the GDDS into the Fund's Data Quality Program by reformatting SDDS subscribers’ and GDDS participants’ metadata according to the Data Quality Assessment Framework (DQAF). The metadata for all SDDS subscribers were reformatted using the DQAF and were posted on the DSBB in 2008. In 2010, IMF staff also converted the metadata for all GDDS participants and sent them to the national authorities for review and comments. Following processing by Fund staff, the DQAF formatted metadata for all GDDS participants have been posted on the DSBB, replacing the previous set of metadata.

Introduction
Metadata
The GDDS is an evolutionary system reflecting changing needs of data users over time. Current operational features of the GDDS are as established in 1997 and amended by the IMF's Executive Board in March 2000, November 2001, November 2003, November 2005, and December 2008. Individual country presentations reflect the current features of the GDDS, as discussed in What is the GDDS?. It is expected that, as individual country presentations are updated (at least annually), any enhancements introduced to the system will be incorporated.
