| Coverage characteristics | 5.1.1 Statistical presentation From January 2005 SO SR starts compilation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as Laspeyres chained index with annually updated weights. CPI covers approximately 90 % of all households in the Slovak Republic. From January 2013, after comprehensive revision of CPI are collected for the adjusted consumer basket, which covers 713 goods and services and about 90,000 price quotations from 13 400 retail outlets. The consumer prices of individual commodities include value-added tax and are collected during the initial 20 days of a reference month. All general expenditure categories of goods and services, as defined by ESA 95 are covered by the consumer price index. These include: food and non-alcoholic beverages; alcoholic beverages and tobacco; clothing and footwear; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house; health; transport; communication; recreation and culture; education; hotels, cafes and restaurants; miscellaneous goods and services. The weights are derived from the 2011 households budget survey, adjusted to the results of the 2011 national accounts data and other administrative sources. The weights from the year 2011 are price updated. The seasonally adjusted consumer price indices of food are published in the monthly publication Consumer Price Indices in the Slovak Republic within 30 days after the end of the reference month. | Advance dissemination of release calendar |
5.1.3 Advance release calendar An advance release calendar that gives the precise release dates for the coming four months is disseminated on the Internet website of the Statistical Office of the SR (http://www.statistics.sk/) and in the monthly publication Monitor of the Economy of the SR. The public is also informed of the availability of the advance release calendar in a notice published in the monthly Consumer Prices Indices in the Slovak Republic. Flexibility Notes: |

5.1.4 Simultaneous release The data are released simultaneously to all interested parties by issuing the Information reports, which is posted on the Internet website of the Statistical Office of the SR (http://www.statistics.sk/ ) at 9:00 a.m. on the day of release. |

0.1.3 Confidentiality of individual reporters' data Statistical office of the Slovak Republic The Law on State Statistics defines the secrecy and confidential data protection. Without the approval of legal or physical persons providing the relevant individual data, these data cannot be published or announced to anybody or used for other than statistical purposes. 1.1.1 Impartiality of statistics Statistical office of the Slovak Republic The Law on State Statistics specifies that the SO SR, ministries and state institutions are independent and impartial when collecting, processing and assessing statistical information. 1.2.2 Internal governmental access to statistics prior to release Prime Minister of the Government of the SR, the Ministry of Finance of the SR and the National Bank of Slovakia have access to the data under embargo 24 hours before their release to the public, in accordance with the Principles of Release and Provision of Statistical Information by the Statistical Office of the SR. |

Methodological explanations are also published in the monthly Monitor of the Economy of the Slovak Republic. |

4.2.1 Internal consistency The first release of CPI contains data for the reference month: the total CPI; and indices in the breakdown by 12 divisions of the Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose (COICOP), to the different basic (December 2000=100, December of the previous year=100, previous month=100, and same period of the previous year=100).4.2.2 Temporal consistency The monthly publication Consumer Price Indices in the Slovak Republic, disseminated on the SO SR web site within 30 days after the end of the reference month, publishes consumer price indices to the following basis: the previous period =100, December 2000=100, December of the previous year=100, and the same period of the previous year=100. It contains: (1) consumer price indices for the last 3 months in breakdown by the 12 divisions and 44 groups of goods and services of the COICOP classification; (2) consumer price indices for the last 3 months in breakdown by the 12 divisions and 44 groups of goods and services of the COICOP classification for the social groups (employees, pensioners and low-income households); and (3) CPI monthly time series for the current and the previous year and other, e. g. seasonally adjusted consumer price indices of food (December 2000=100) for the individual months since the year 2004. The monthly Monitor of the Economy of the Slovak Republic, disseminated on the SO SR web site within 3 weeks after the first release of the CPI data, publishes consumer price indices (December 2000=100, previous period=100, the same period of the previous year=100) in breakdown by 12 divisions of the COICOP classification for the latest 13 months and annual data for 2010, 2011 and 2012. |
